The lordly sun Helios is making the journey to his kingdom in the Southern regions to rule over the people of bronzed skin. The Grand Dame of Fall has graced our lands with her regal presence, and with her she brings a much welcomed relief from the sweltering reign of Helios. Her visit is like that of a kind grandmother who lavishes gifts upon her grandchildren. But it is also a bittersweet reminder of the coming reign of the Frost Giant. The rumor of his arrival is whispered by the soft breezes through the shadowy trees.
The reign of one king brings the desires of the other, and it is a maddening circle to endure. If only we could forever lay our heads in the fragrant lap of the Maiden of Spring like a sleepy lover, or sit cozily against the bosom of the Grand Dame of Fall like babes so loved. There we would find the peace of our souls and escape the extreme of these two kings. But sometimes peace can be like a fruit that has fallen from the tree, that we chase longingly after as it rolls down the hill. Some days we are too weary to catch it, while other days only to eat it lustily with nothing left for hungrier moments.
