Daylight Fades

Weariness has settled into the depths of my bones. The sword wavers in my weakening hand and my foothold stumbles. The daylight fades as the dusky haze blurs the friends from the enemies. The stars and moon are distant and cold and pale compared to the brightness of the sun. The song of victory has long since faded from the battlefield and is a distant echo that taunts like the a song of the sirens. No man wants to fight battles, but fight he must or the battle will fight him.
